Abstract:

Papers pertaining to Martin's activities for woman suffrage, feminism, social hygiene, and pacificism. Also included are materials relating to her U.S. Senate campaigns in Nevada in 1918 and 1920. Mencken, Francis G. Newlands, Alice Paul, Key Pittman, Jenette Rankin, Theodore Roosevelt, Upton Sinclair, Margaret Chase Smith, Lincoln Steffens, Dorothy Thompson, Mabel Vernon, Charles Erskine, Scott Wood, Margaret Wood, and Maud Younger. Anne Henrietta Martin (1875-1951) was born at Empire City, Nevada. She graduated from the University of Nevada in 1894, and served for many years as head of its Department of History. She was an active suffragist who campaigned unsuccessfully in 1918 and 1920 for a seat in the U.S. Senate. Later she was active in pacifist organizations.
